Calaveras County Pay Raises

San Andreas, CA — Pay hikes galore in Calaveras County.

County Administrative Officer Tom Mitchell received a 15% pay raise Monday to $142,000 a year. The pay increase for Mitchell and six other top administrators will cost taxpayers $66,000 a year.

Assistant County Administrative Officer Francine Osborn, who also received a pay raise, says the increases are based on the county´s need to compete for qualified employees.

The Board of Supervisors voted 4-1 to approve those increases. The only dissenting vote came from Steve Wilensky who stated that he also wants to see competitive wages in the county, but he wants to see them for all workers in the county. Wilensky is a former union offical. His vote was greeted with a “thumbs up” from members of the Service Employees International Union.
