Northern California Man Held In Bolivia

San Francisco, CA — Legal documents show a Northern California man arrested in Bolivia in connection with fatal bombing attacks has a long history of legal and mental health problems.

Triston Jay Amero is being held in Bolivia where authorities say he and his girlfriend planted bombs at two hotels that killed two people and injured seven others.

Court documents show that the 24-year-old Amero has been in and out of psychiatric hospitals since he was seven-years-old. Amero had previously lived in El Dorado County, where court records show he was sentenced in 1996 to three-and-a-half years in a youth authority facility after being convicted of spitting on a juvenile court judge and court clerk.

He also served time in a youth correctional facility in Amador County, where documents show he threatened staff and created hit lists of staff members and public officials.
