Law Enforcement Hits “Jackpot” During Drug Busts

Sonora, CA — Dozens of people are either in jail or facing several drug charges after Operation Jackpot swept Tuolumne County clean of mid-level drug dealers.

Headed up by the Tuolumne County Sheriff´s Department, Operation Jackpot landed 35 people in jail, 31 of those were booked Thursday.

Nine agencies including police departments from Sonora, Angels Camp and Oakdale took part in the operation.

Officials from child welfare placed five drug endangered children with other adults. Lieutenant George Ruckman says there were no injuries and the operation was successful due to the help from other agencies.
