Blanket of Snow Greets Motherlode Residents

A blanket of snow greeted Mother Lode residents this morning. Although the storm anticipated for Friday night was a day late, it did not disappoint.

At least 6 inches fell in Sonora overnight with more falling at higher elevations making for great skiing over the long holiday weekend. Dodge Ridge reports 12 inches of fresh powder and Bear Valley reports 12-16 inches.

Motorists are advised that chains or snow tires are required east of Sonora on HWY 108 with chains required east of Twain Harte. Motorists are reminded to use extreme caution and drive at reduced speeds. You can check road conditions by clicking on MyMotherLode.com traffic
