Angels Camp Officials Put Off Decision On Greenhorn Extension

Angels Camp, CA — Angels Camp officials have put off a decision on the proposed Greenhorn Creek Road extension for at least a few months.

At Tuesday night´s city council meeting several residents urged the council to forego a decision until the city adopts its long-term General Plan, which may be this summer.

Residents presented the panel with a petition containing 300 names urging a postponement of the decision.

The extension would be designed to relieve traffic congestion in town by routing some traffic through the Greenhorn Creek Subdivision.

Opponents say the plan is ill-conceived and doesn´t do anything to combat traffic problems.

Four council members voted to put off the plan, with one abstention by Mayor William Hutchison, who recused himself because he lives in an area that would be affected by the extension plan.

The meeting drew some 200 residents to the Bret Harte High School Theater.
