Tuolumne County Bad Check Program Launched

Sonora, CA — The Tuolumne County District Attorney´s office is providing a program to merchants and citizens that is designed with three goals in mind.

The Bad Check Program is expected to free law enforcement to deal with more serious criminal offenses, help victims gain full restitution at no cost, and give offenders the opportunity to avoid a criminal record by paying restitution and attending a financial management class.

District Attorney Donald Segerstrom Jr. suggests sending all non-sufficient funds checks directly to the Bad Check Program. Bad check writers will be contacted and required to pay for the amount of the check plus bank fees incurred.

The program guidebook and all necessary forms can be downloaded directly from the Internet at DA-BadCheck.com.
