Report Critical Of Calaveras County Mental Health Services

San Andreas, CA — A recently released report from the Calaveras County Mental Health Advisory Board says the quality of mental health services in the county is sub-standard.

The document is especially critical of the jail, saying those who are arrested often don´t get the attention they need.

The report says many factors are to blame, including poor coordination with the county´s mental health staff, the Sheriff´s Department and the District Attorney´s Office.

The report adds that county mental health officials are already working to solve some of the problems outlined.

Officials say the report exaggerates the problems because the advisory board may have misunderstood the county´s system of scheduling assessments for people in crisis.
