“Kids vs. Liquor” In East Sonora

Sonora, CA — It´s not exactly the Hatfields vs. the McCoys, but it could be interesting tomorrow at 9am when the Tuolumne County Board of Supervisors hosts a public hearing regarding the Nella Oil Company´s appeal of the Safari Learning Preschool and Day Care Center potential opening in the Sonora Sport and Fitness facility.

Nella Oil operates the Shell service station across Mono Way from the Junction Shopping Center and this entity desires the right to someday apply for a liquor license which could jeopardize the existance of a preschool.

District One Supervisor Liz Bass wants to hear both sides of the issue before determining how she will vote. Board Chair Mark Thornton says that both sides, by virtue of the law, may be able to exist. The bottom line; the issue could possibly come down to “kids vs. liquor.”

Thornton is hopeful a decision can be reached immediatley following the public comment period.
