Suspect Who Caused Lockdown At Sonora High School Arrested

Sonora, Ca — The Sonora Police Department has arrested Nelson Edwards, the suspect who is connected with the lockdown at Sonora High School on Monday.

At 11:37am this morning, the Police Department received an anonymous call that Edwards was being treated in the Emergency Room at Sonora Regional Medical Center. Officers investigated, and Edwards was transported to Tuolumne County Jail on two counts of assault with a deadly weapon.

The case began Monday morning, when the Police Department received a call reporting that the suspect had fled a residence near the school, after attempting to stab two people with a large kitchen knife. The school was then put on lockdown for approximately 35 minutes.
