San Andreas, CA — 60 year old James Shaw of Stoke-on-Trent, England has been positively identified as the motorcyclist who was killed minutes before two o´clock Monday afternoon on Hwy 49.
According to the CHP report Shaw was southbound south of Red Hill Rd. traveling at a speed of between 35-40mph on his 2005 Harley Davidson when he failed to negotiate a right hand curve. His bike ran off the roadway on the east side of the road and struck an embankment. Shaw was ejected sustaining fatal injuries.
Shaw´s death marks the fourth of the long weekend and the thirteenth of the year in Calaveras County. Four of those fatalities have involved motorcycles.
