Sonora, Ca — Late Thursday afternoon, 33 year old Gregory James Beckham from the state of Washington drowned in the Leland Reservoir.
At 4:53pm, the Tuolumne County Sheriff´s Department received a call that a man who had been swimming with family members had gone underwater and not resurfaced. Sheriff´s deputies and search and rescue members responded. At approximately 8:35pm, Beckham´s body was recovered by the dive team in 15 feet of water.
The Sheriff´s Department says the circumstances leading up to the incident are being investigated, but no foul play is expected. An autopsy is being scheduled.
