County Enters Wood Chipping Business

San Andreas, CA — In an effort to improve recycling efforts at local dumps, Calaveras County is entering into an agreement with CHIPS.

CHIPS stands for Calaveras Healthy Impact Product Solutions. The project turns brush and smaller-diameter trees into usable wood products such as wood chips or mulch.

The project will use the yard and wood waste collected at county disposal sites and turn them into landscaping chips.

County Recycling Coordinator Lesli Daniel says this helps the county attain its lawful obligation to recycle 50 percent of its waste.
