Angora Fire Mopup Continues

South Shore Lake Tahoe, CA — CAL FIRE is reporting the Angora Fire is now 95 percent contained.

Five days ago there were close to 2,000 firefighters in the South Lake Tahoe area. By Sunday evening only 450 remained as the mopup continued for the 31-hundred acre blaze.

The final numbers have yet to be tabulated, but already the cost of fighting that fire has reached $11.3 million. According to the CAL FIRE report 254 residences and 75 commercial structures were destroyed.

There were no deaths and only three injuries to firefighters.
