Board OKs Offer For General Plan Position

San Andreas, CA — An item that was expected to be routine was met with contention at the Calaveras County Board of Supervisors meeting Tuesday.

It was a resolution establishing the compensation for an offer of employment to a new General Plan Coordinator. The position was created several months ago and has remained unfilled even though the General Plan Update process is well underway.

This move essentially gives staff the go ahead to make an offer to a specific candidate, Lynn O´Connor.

Supervisor Tom Tryon says he is concerned about the candidate´s qualifications and furthermore is concerned with the current Community Development Director Stephanie Moreno´s qualifications as well.

He says these factors are contributing to the overall inefficiency and operation of the agency.

Supervisor Steve Wilensky rebuffed Tryon´s comments likening them to hazing of a new employee.

Nevertheless, the resolution was passed to offer O´Connor a high-grade salary rank along with two weeks vacation and one week of sick leave.
