Tuesday Morning Pursuit Ensues In Hathaway Pines

Hathaway Pines, CA — Calaveras County Sheriff´s deputies had a pursuit on their hands Tuesday morning after a motorcyclist refused to pull over for a routine traffic stop.

Officials say the suspect, James Sainz of Hathaway Pines, continued down Highway 4 near Hathaway Pines forcing vehicles off of the road and reaching speeds in excess of 80 miles per hour.

Sainz fled on foot after turning down a dead end. Once in custody, he was found to have a police scanner, marijuana, a handgun and methamphetamine paraphernalia.

Sainz is in Calaveras County jail on $110,000 bail.
