New Priest Grade Road To Remain Closed For Four Hours Plus

Jamestown, CA — According to CHP Officer Mike Buller New Priest Grade Road will remain closed for at least the next four hours due to that morning accident involving a utility truck.

Currently a second big rig tow truck is at Vista Point on Hwy 120 on its way to provide backup for the initial tow truck. Buller says a cable broke on the first truck.

The accident occured shortly after 9am. The vehicle fire burned approximately one-quarter acre before being quickly extinguished by CAL Fire and local agencies.

Caltrans shut down the eastbound lane and later started guiding east and westbound traffic in the westbound lane. Now with two big rig trucks on scene, all traffic has been halted.

The current detour for buses and trucks is Hwy 120 to J-59 (LaGrange Rd.) to eastbound Hwy 132. At Coulterville turn left at stop sign to Smith Station and proceed back to Hwy 120 on the way to Yosemite.
