Event Allows Officers To Interact With Area Children

Sonora, Ca — In an effort to build strong relationships within the community, the Sonora Police Officers Association presented the second annual Cops and Kids Fair Saturday afternoon.

Police Chief Mace McIntosh says he hopes that children, and adults, know that they can feel comfortable around law enforcement officers.

?If you have a problem or something that needs to be talked over, just call the Police Department,? says McIntosh. ?We don´t arrest and take people to jail all of the time. We help people too.?

McIntosh adds that there were more activities this year, including a climbing wall for the youngsters.

Today´s event held at Sonora Elementary School was free to the public. Some of the other agencies assisting the Sonora Police Officers Association included the CHP, Tuolumne County SAR, Tuolumne County Boating and Safety Unit, Sonora Fire and CAL Fire.
