Law Enforcement Agencies Pull Off Friday Evening Sting

Sonora, CA — Friday evening the Tuolumne County Sheriff Office along with agents from the District Attorney´s Office and Alcoholic Beverage Control pulled off a sting on 35 stores that may have been selling alcohol to minors.

Lt. Dan Bressler of the Sheriff´s Office identified nine stores as selling alcohol to minors who were working the sting operation. That list included Sonora Mini-Mart, the Valero Service Station on S. Washington, Sonora Express Mart, the Fuel Depot, Cost U Less, Minors´ Mart, Big Oak Lounge, County Quick Way and Sonora Mini Stop.

Bressler added that many of the aforementioned are repeat offenders. For the most part stores in violation are cited and they could be fined given any history of offenses.

Bressler says the sale of alcohol to minors continues to be a serious problem in Tuolumne County because so many vehicular accidents, fights and crimes are alcohol related.
