High Water Use Reported Following Winter Storm

Sonora, CA — The Tuolumne Utilities District is noticing an excessively high water demand following this week’s winter storm.

Spokesperson Lisa Westbrook says crews are finding multiple broken pipes in the county with water running down roadways.

Westbrook says it is likely due to residents being away from their homes and not realizing that the pipes are damaged. A notable area of high usage has been Crystal Falls.

T.U.D. is asking resident to be on the lookout for broken pipes and also keep an eye on the homes of neighbors that could be out of town.

For detailed information on what to do if your pipes are still frozen or if you have a water emergency go to www.tudwater.com. If you cannot find the water source, call 532-5536.
