Cope Offers Sneak Preview of Thursday Night’s Speech

Tuolumne County Economic Development Authority Director Larry Cope remains “cautiously optimistic” that the current recession may be “bottoming out.”

Cope will be the keynote speaker at Thursday night’s Tuolumne County Chamber of Commerce “Instillation and Honors Banquet” at the Sonora Elks Lodge, beginning with a 6pm cocktail hour followed by a 7pm dinner.

Cope was also Wednesday’s KVML “Newsmaker of the Day”.

Cope offered a bit of a sneak preview of Thursday night’s address, “Certain areas of the economy are showing improvement. Manufacturing is up in some areas.

Our local businesses are hanging on and that’s good. Rather then downsizing they are rightsizing in making an adjustment to these tough economic times.

I do believe that we are gaining and that we are in better shape than we were six months ago.”

Seats are still available and reservations can still be made by calling the Tuolumne County Chamber of Commerce at (209) 532-4212.

The KVML “Newsmkaker of the Day” is heard every weekday morning on AM 1450 KVML at 6:47, 7:47 and 8:47am.
