Concours d’Elegance Coming To Ironstone

Murphys, CA — Coming to a vineyard near you; the 13th annual Concours d’Elegance.

This Saturday Ironstone Vineyards will be hosting the 13th annual Concours d’Elegance vintage car show from 10am until 4pm. The awards ceremony is scheduled for 3pm.

Ironstone Concours Foundation President Gail Kautz was Friday’s KVML “Newsmaker of the Day”.

According to Kautz this year’s show will feature hundreds of classics including a 1935 convertible owned by Mae West, the one and only produced 1937 airomobile that was built to compete with Volkswagen, a Rolls Royce “shooting brake” (station wagon), seven classic boats, antique motorcycles from the ’20’s, ’30’s and ’40’s and plenty of trailers displayed by the “trailer trash” gang.

The purpose of the Concours d’Elegance, in addition to entertaining car buffs, is to raise funds for 4-H and Future Farmers of America. Over the years $500,000 has been raised for those groups.

In addition the event provides funding for the Calaveras County Fair, an endowment for the State Guide Dog Program, a $2,000 scholarship for the winner of the State Fair Youth Horse Show and a $5,000 scholarship for the winner of the State Fair Scholarship Program.

The “Newsmaker of the Day” is heard every weekday on AM 1450 KVML at 6:46, 7:46 and 8:46am.
