New Coach Ready To Lead Sonora High Football

Sonora, CA — The Sonora High football team will open up a new season Friday night under first year head coach Bryan Craig.

This is Craig’s 18th year with the program but his first as head coach. He takes over for Robert Cendro who accepted a coaching position in southern California after last season.

"The thing that is most important to the program is academics," says Craig. "Yeah, I coach football, but we are trying to teach these kids to be good students and citizens through football. For our program to be a success, I think the kids need to be successful in the classroom first."

He says his largest personal challenge has been organizing aspects "outside the lines" that aren’t related to the games, but the overall football program.

Craig says he is pleased with the effort that the team has put in this summer and feels they are in good shape heading into the season.

The team opens up Friday evening at home against Johansen.
