Officials Unsure When Yosemite’s Grand Canyon Trail Will Open

Yosemite, CA — The Grand Canyon Trail along the Tuolumne River remains closed as firefighters continue to manage the 900 plus acre Wildcat Fire in Yosemite National Park.

The Yosemite Fire Information Office says that the Wilderness Ranger and Fire Management are working together to evaluate when the trail can be re-opened to the public. The lightning caused fire continues to burn on the north and south side of the Tuolumne River, and up onto the north rim of the Tuolumne River Canyon through Red Fir, Jeffery Pine and brush.

The fire is being managed for multiple objectives, and to allow the natural process to take place for forest health.
