State Budget Yet To Be Finalized

Sacramento, CA — The state budget process has turned into a piecemeal parade of legislation.

The State Senate has taken the first step toward approving a massive package designed to close the state’s $26 billion budget gap. Senators have passed a bill that cuts higher education funding, college grants, health programs, welfare, in-home supportive services and state prisons.

It’s the first of 31 bills in the package so there remains plenty of work to be done before the dust settles in Sacramento.
