Stolp Confirms First Case Of H1N1 In Tuolumne County

Sonora, CA — Tuolumne County has its first confirmed case of the H1N1 influenza, formerly known as swine flu.

County Health Officer Dr. Todd Stolp says the affected resident is a child who is recovering well. The child had traveled to Los Angeles seven days prior to being diagnosed, so Stolp says it is possible that this is where the influenza was contracted.

Like most patients, the resident developed symptoms of an “influenza-like illness” and sought medical care. This includes a cough, sore throat, congestion and a fever over 100 degrees.
