Mother Lode Fair Is This Weekend

Sonora, CA — Fairgoers will begin heading through the gates at noon today.

Fair Manager Jan Haydn-Myer says over 300 kids will be showcasing livestock this weekend, and auctions will be held on both Saturday and Sunday.

This year’s “outstanding buyer” award has been given to Sierra Pacific Industries for its continued support of the event.

Live entertainment throughout the weekend will include the “Mother Lode has Talent” competition, Chains Required, Crash Landing, Rick Barnes and Lurv, No Taboo, Upland Drive and the Shane Dwight Band.

There will also be carnival rides and events taking place in the main arena. Motocross is a Friday highlight, truck pulls on Saturday and the Destruction Derby on Sunday.

Nicknamed “The Hottest Little Fair in California”, it should live up to its billing this weekend. Temperatures could hit the triple digits on Saturday and Sunday according to the National Weather Service.
