League Of California Cities Paints Gloomy Picture

Sacramento, CA — A gloomy picture was painted Wednesday in the state capital for the League of California Cities.

According to Sonora City Administrator Greg Applegate, who attended the Wednesday meeting, “Many cities presented their stories of layoffs, total reductions, projects no longer going forward and state grants being withheld.”

Applegate added, “We are preparing for reductions in Sonora. The most difficult part of formulating a budget is all the uncertaintees. If the May 19th propositions don’t pass there will be a huge deficit and the state will go after cities and ocounties.”
