Calaveras Visitors Bureau Anticipates Good Summer Ahead

With RV and campground sites already being booked and sold out, the Calaveras Visitors Bureau is anticipating a good Spring and Summer.

Lisa Mayo, the Executive Director of the Visitors Bureau, was Wednesday’s KVML Newsmaker of the Day.

According to Mayo, Bear Valley had a great Winter as well as several of the local restaurants and hotels, thanks to Northern California residents not wanting to travel as far, as they had in previous years.

“Looking at the months ahead, domestic bookings are already filling up for the local RV sites and campgrounds and our international traveling forecast continues to remain strong,” Mayo said. “I was in Germany a few weeks ago and we are not seeing a drop in European travel to the USA.”

One new program that will be introduced next week, to help lure tourists to Calaveras County, is the “Visitors Incentive Program’ or “VIP pass”. Thirty five merchants are already lined up to offer discounts to tourists who travel through the Calaveras Visitors Center in Angels Camp.

The “Newsmaker of the Day” is heard each weekday morning on AM 1450 KVML at 6:47, 7:47 and 8:47am.
