Sonora, CA — A Columbia man was transported to Sonora Regional Medical Center Tuesday afternoon after being struck by a vehicle in downtown Sonora.

Police Chief Mark Stinson says 63-year-old Robert Escobor stepped off the sidewalk between two parked vehicles and was backed into by a driver.

The accident was near the intersection of Washington and Yaney. The vehicle that hit Escobor was driven by 66-year-old David Iserman of Twain Harte.

Escobar reported pain in his left side. Stinson says the incident is still under investigation.
