Merced, CA — According to the Merced Sun-Star a tornado touched down south of Merced prior to the noon hour today.
Gary Sanger of the National Weather Service’s Hanford office says the funnel cloud appeared at 11:25 and dissipated 20 minutes later.
Sanger added it’s the first tornado to touch down in the valley in 13 months. The last tornado was near Visalia occurring January 27.
