CHP Maximum Enforcement Starts Tonight

San Andreas, CA– The California Highway Patrol will conduct another Maximum Enforcement Period starting tonight at 6:00 pm and continuing through Sunday, January 2nd until 11:59 pm.

During this holiday weekend, extra officers will be deployed throughout the state to ensure that motorists celebrate the New Year in a safe and responsible manner.

“If you’re going to celebrate with alcohol please designate a non-drinking driver,” says San Andreas CHP Officer Rebecca Myers. “Our goal is to make sure that everyone arrives at their destination safely. The CHP wants to remind drivers to always wear seatbelts, stay off their cell phone, carry chains if heading to the mountains and never drink and drive.”

Myers adds that with the recent freezing temperatures in the Mother Lode, motorists should also reduce their speed when driving on icy roads and especially over bridges.
