Groveland Drowning Victim Identified

Sonora, CA – The Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Office has identified the man who drowned over the weekend in Groveland as 79-year-old Alfonso Garcia.

“Apparently he fell in front of a culvert blocking a flow of water, and was found by his landlord later in the day,” says Sgt. Jeff Wilson. “It is unknown at this point why he fell. We know that his vehicle was stuck in the mud right nearby. We know he exited the car, but it is difficult to tell what happened after that.”

The drowning was on Hells Hollow Road.
