Service Club Sought To Take Over “Sonora Beautiful”

After twenty-eight years, the Sonora Beautiful Committee is ready to hand off its all-volunteer duties to a new organizer.

Sharon Marovich, organizer of the Sonora Beautiful Committee, was Wednesday’s KVML “Newsmaker of the Day”.

During this time of the year, the year-round volunteer work of Sonora Beautiful is most evident throughout downtown Sonora with cedar boughs, red bows, pine cones and swags on poles, buildings and signs.

The Committee was first created in 1982 with the simple mission to help beautify Sonora.

Marovich is looking to hand off the successful program off to another group. Whether its a civic group, a lodge or a youth group, this is an opportunity for an appreciated and visible presence in Sonora.

The Sonora Beautiful Committee will work with the new group in showing various projects, materials and the “how to” of making and hanging swags.

For more information contact Marovich at (209) 532-6937 or Thad Waterbury at (209) 532-8236.

The “Newsmaker of the Day” is heard each weekday morning on AM 1450 KVML at 6:47, 7:47 and 8:47am.
