Attempted Sonora Carjacking

Sonora, CA — An attempted carjacking was reported last night in Sonora.


The Police Department says that a man was shopping with his family in the Sonora Plaza Parking lot at 716 Mono Way when a suspect tried to open the driver side door, and stated “Give me your car.” The victim told the suspect to step away from the car. The suspect did so, and then reached into his jacket, as if to grab something. The victim stepped out of his car and approached the suspect. At that point the suspect took off running. He is described as a white male in his 20’s with short brown hair, a tan jacket, tan hat and blue jeans. He also reportedly appeared to be under the influence of a controlled substance.
