County Furloughs Start Next Week

Sonora, CA — Many government offices in Tuolumne and Calaveras Counties will be closed next week due to furloughs.


Most Calaveras County offices will be closed all next week. The exceptions include the Sheriff’s Office, County Jail, District Attorney, Public Works Solid Waste, Public Works snow removal, CalWorks/Human Services Agency emergency services, and the Behavioral Health Mental Health Crisis Response Services. The Superior Court will be open November 22-24. The Clerk/Recorder’s Office will be open from 9am-1pm those days.


In Tuolumne County, emergency services (Sheriff, Fire, Ambulance and Public Health) will be available 24-7. Health and Human Services will be available, but some departments will have limited staffing. Airport services will not be affected by the furloughs, snow plowing will be available as needed, Animal Control will be open November 22-24, the County Clerk/Auditor/Controller’s office will be open November 22-24 from 9am-1pm. The District Attorney’s Office and Office of the Public Defender will be open November 22-24, and the Probation Department will be open November 22-23.
