Santa Fly-In Food And Coat Drive

Sonora, CA – The hope is that everyone in the Mother Lode will have a warm holiday season.

Clarke Broadcasting is kicking off its Santa Fly-In Food and Coat Drive in partnership with Interfaith Social Services. On Saturday, December 4th the community is encouraged to drop off non-perishable canned or boxed food items and/or new or lightly used coats to Standard Park on Tuolumne Road. The hours will be 9am-3pm.

Interfaith Director Cathie Peacock was Thursday’s KVML “Newsmaker of the Day”.

Peacock says there is an overwhelming need for food and coats this year. Last month, 868 families came into the Interfaith office to receive food. Cash donations to Interfaith are also encouraged. Click here for more information. 100 percent of all donations go to Interfaith and it is a tax deductible donation. Star 92.7 and 93.5 KKBN will host an on air cash drive in the days leading up to the event, so stay tuned.

Businesses are encouraged to join the cause and drop food and coat collections at Standard Park on December 4th. It is requested that donations not be dropped off at the Clarke Broadcasting office.

Also on December 4th at Standard Park, Santa will arrive at noon by helicopter courtesy of PHI Air Medical and Tuolumne County Ambulance Service. It is a chance for kids to get a picture with Santa. For more details on the Santa Fly-In Food and Coat Drive click here.

The “Newsmaker of the Day” is heard each weekday morning on AM 1450 KVML at 6:47, 7:47 and 8:47am.
