Update: Down Tree Stalling Traffic In Sonora

Update at 4:40 p.m.: The CHP reports that the downed tree has been removed and traffic is moving freely once again.

Original post at 4 p.m.: Sonora, CA – A large tree is slowing traffic along Phoenix Lake Road in Sonora.

As can be seen in the picture in the image box, the tree came crashing down and is blocking one lane of the roadway. The CHP is directing traffic around the blockage, which is between Water Oak Drive and the Tuolumne County Fire Station 57 on Phoenix Lake Road. A crew is heading to the area with saws in hand to remove the tree, which could take some time, so motorists may want to avoid the area.
