Oakland, CA — The Groveland man involved in a weekend shootout with officers on an Oakland freeway is due back in court next month.
45-year-old Byron Williams has been charged with four counts of attempted murder on peace officers, as well as enhancements for firearms, body armor and gang activity. Additional charges were brought forth Wednesday related to being a felon in possession of firearms.
Williams has not entered a plea. He’s due back in court Aug. 11. The Associated Press reports that Williams was planning an attack on the ACLU and the Tides Foundation in San Francisco, before he was stopped by officers on Interstate 580.
