City Council To Hear About Stockton Road Crosswalk

Sonora, CA — Tonight the Sonora City Council will review and give further direction regarding options for a proposed traffic improvement project, a Green Street and Stockton Road pedestrian crosswalk.

It is in relation to a correlating transit project in that area. The city, in collaboration with Caltrans, has been looking at two options. One is a HAWK system being installed to allow pedestrian traffic to walk across the intersection, and the other is to have a pedestrian refuge median, within the intersection, providing two stage crossing for pedestrians. The council will hear all of the pertinent details and likely give direction.

In addition, the council will hear a presentation on the proposed budget that must be approved before the end of the month, and consider no-parking zones for the Mother Lode Fair, July 4-7. The meeting starts at 5pm at Sonora City Hall.
