Pombo In The Hunt

Tracy, CA — Republican Richard William Pombo has entered the 19th District Congressional race to succeed George Radanovich.

The 48 year old Pombo served seven terms in the 11th Congressional District. He was Chairman of the House Resources Committee when he was defeated in the 2006 Congressional election by Democrat Jerry McNerney.

In February of 2007 Pombo joined the public relations firm of Pac/West Communications as a senior partner. The former Tracy City Council member was first voted to Congress in 1992.

To date Pombo has been joined in the 19th District race by former Fresno mayor Jim Patterson and 12th District State Senator Jeff Denham.

Denham commented, “I would look forward to debating him in our race for George Radanovich’s seat in Congress.”

Radanovich has announced that he will not seek re-election due to his wife’s three year battle with ovarian cancer.
