Toys And Food For Calaveras Families

Angels Camp, CA– A lot of toys and over 80 turkeys and hams will be distributed to Calaveras families this year, thanks to the CHP and Santa’s Express.

Over the weekend, food donations and toys were collected for a pack-the-patrol-car event at Save Mart in Angels Camp.

San Andreas CHP Officer Jaime Castillo says the 14th annual Chips for Kids Toy Drive and the Santa’s Express food drive for the Resource Connection Food Bank was a success.

“We did meet our goal of 80 turkeys and hams,” said Castillo. “We actually collected about 85 turkeys and hams. Several toys were donated for the Chips for Kids program and everything stays here in Calaveras County. It just shows how our community comes together and helps one another in times of need.”

Castillo says this holiday season the Resource Connection Food Bank hopes to help over 1,200 needy families in Calaveras County.  Donated toys will be given to local hospitalized and disadvantaged children just before Christmas.

The Chips for Kids Toy Drive continues through Thursday, December, 15th.
