Groveland Grass Fire

Groveland, CA — There was a quarter acre vegetation fire last night in the Groveland area.

Fire officials report that it was located off Ferretti Road. Early indications are that someone had placed ashes or coals from a fireplace outside the house, and it caught fire to the grass. The home itself was not damaged.

Fire officials recommend that coals and ashes be placed in a covered metal container until they are completely cool. This could take a few days. It is also very important not to leave coals and ashes under decks or near brush.
