Avalon Prepares For Transition

Sonora, CA — 42 Tuolumne General Medical Facility long term care patients will soon be transferred to the newly expanded Avalon Healthcare facility on Greenley Road.

Avalon VP Skyler Hollingsworth says the 92 bed expansion was completed late last month.
“The facility is now ready to transition residents from TGH,” says Hollingsworth. “This is scheduled to commence on November 10 and then be completed within 10 business days.”

It is one of the county’s final steps following the vote in 2007 to close Tuolumne General Hospital, and transition most services to the private sector. Meanwhile, a ribbon cutting for the expanded Avalon facility is scheduled for December 6th.

Hollingsworth made the comments to the Tuolumne County Board of Supervisors on Tuesday.
