CHP Identifies Victims

Buck Meadows, CA — The victims in Thursday night’s fatal accident near Buck Meadows have been identified.

The CHP reports that 35-year-old Victor Mota of Turlock and 45-year-old Mark McPhee of Stockton were killed. Mota was driving a 2000 Chevy Silverado on Highway 120 east of Hamilton Station Loop Road when he lost control and hit a raised concrete curb.

The truck then traveled slightly up the hillside and hit a road sign and pine trees. CHP Officer Brad Schultz says the truck continued on and went airborne for approximately 77 feet before colliding violently with a large pine tree. Both occupants in the vehicle were pronounced dead when officials arrived on scene.

It is still unknown if alcohol was a contributing factor in the accident. The incident happened at around 11:30pm.
