Five Injured In Crash

Copperopolis, CA — A handful of people sustained minor to moderate injuries in a Sunday collision in Calaveras County.

The CHP reports that 43-year-old Jennifer Hedger of Sonora was driving northbound on O’Byrnes Ferry Road and attempted to turn at the intersection of Reeds Turnpike. Unfortunately, she did not see a southbound vehicle driven by 51-year-old George Mathis of Valley Springs. Hedger noticed that Reeds Turnpike was under some construction, and hesitated in the southbound lane, nearly coming to a stop. The two cars collided.

Hedger was transported to Sonora Regional Medical Center for minor injuries. Passenger Donna Hedger, 67, was taken to Memorial Hospital in Modesto for moderate injuries, Ron Hedger, 68, was taken to Sonora Regional Medical Center for moderate injuries, and a 16-year-old juvenile was taken to Mark Twain St. Joseph’s Hospital for minor injuries. Mathis was the lone occupant in his vehicle, and was taken to Doctors Medical Center in Modesto for moderate injuries. The accident happened at 8:45am.
