Supervisors Approve Jail Contract

San Andreas, CA — The Calaveras County Supervisors have awarded a construction contract for the new jail.

The Supervisors voted 5-0 to accept the low bid of $40.9 million from Flintco Pacific, Incorporated. Some environmental procedures still need to be completed before construction can begin. The County hopes the jail will be open by mid-to-late 2013. The project will be paid for with a mix of state AB 900 funds and local tax dollars. A total of nine companies submitted construction bids.
