Celebrating Independence Day

Sonora, CA — The Mother Lode is a popular destination this Fourth of July weekend.

Despite the heat, a large crowd packed into downtown Twain Harte for the annual Independence Day Parade. It featured Veterans, Firefighters, service organizations and classic cars. The parade started at 11:30am, and activities were set up for the kids until around two o’clock.

Columbia State Historic Park is celebrating Independence Day with the annual “Glorious 4th of July Celebration.” It features popular events like the annual watermelon and pie eating contests. The event runs until 5pm.

Christian Heights Church is hosting the 19th annual “Family Fourth of July Celebration” until 10pm. There are free activities for the whole family, including carnival rides, games, food and a waterslide. There is also a large patriotic laser light show that starts at 9:15pm.

The Calaveras Community Band will present a free concert in Turner Park in San Andreas. The show will be from 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm.
