Sonora, CA – While many of the state’s temporary tax increases are expiring today, there are some new fees going into effect.
District One Republican State Senator Ted Gaines says they include a $150 fee for rural homeowners to help fund fire protection and a $12 vehicle licensing fee. Gaines will discuss the new budget on Mother Lode Views this weekend. Gaines opposed the budget, which was signed by Governor Jerry Brown Thursday.
Gaines will also speak about education reform, proposed redistricting of political boundaries and a legislative proposal he has to improve access to healthcare.
The District One Senate seat includes Calaveras County.
