Ice Cream Vendor Killed

Angels Camp, CA — A vendor at the Calaveras County Fairgrounds was killed over the weekend.

The CHP reports that 73-year-old Sergei Kitchuck of Burson had an ice cream truck parked at a slight incline in the fairgrounds parking lot. Kitchuck exited the truck and walked around its front end and began to enter a pickup truck. When the ice cream truck started rolling, Kitchuck tried to run towards the front, but tripped and fell. The truck ran over Kitchuck and he was fatally injured. He was pronounced dead by the arriving coroner.

The accident was at 8:40 Saturday morning. The truck was loaded with approximately 10,000 lbs. of ice cream and other items.
