County Partners With Sonora High

Sonora, CA — Tuolumne County has agreed to help the Sonora Union High School District by applying for grant funding for facility improvements.

Tuolumne County is requesting that Sonora High School receive $4 million in Statewide Park Development and Community Revitalization Program grant funds. The state Proposition 84 funding would specifically be used to make improvements to the pool, Dunlavy Field Track, sport field entrances and Bev Barron Field.

Sonora High sought help from the county because the Recreation Department’s programs regularly utilize Sonora High facilities. Also, schools are not allowed to request Prop 84 grants. Applicants must be a city, county, municipal district, joint powers authority or non-profit organization. The Board of Supervisors vote today was 5-0.

Sonora High has agreed to do the grant writing. There is no local financial match for the project.
